People who have the Interpersonal intelligence learn well when interacting with others. 

These people work well in group situations and are interested in what other people have to say.

 Characteristics of a person with the Interpersonal intelligence are:

• Strong communication skills
• Confident with other people
• Able to pick up non-verbal “cues” from others
• Perceptive in understanding innuendos, hints and implied meanings

 How To

When designing training, support people with the Interpersonal intelligence by providing a variety of opportunities to interact with others.  These opportunities can be both formal and informal. 

 Do

• Create team activities in which people can share their ideas or knowledge.
• Design teams composed of varying numbers of participants.  Pairs work well. 
• Develop guided activities so that learning objectives will be met and people do not get off task.
• Provide specific instructions for team so that they can accomplish goals.
• Rotate participants, presenters and leaders of the team to add variety.
• Vary activities so that all are not group activities, in order to support some of the other multiple intelligences.

 Don’t

• Allow team activities to get out of control.
• Design training that contains only interpersonal activities.
• Lose sight of the learning objectives.

 Challenge

People who learn through the Interpersonal intelligence will be more motivated to learn when you provide opportunities for them to use this preference.
